Height guide
Measure from the floor to the ceiling, then leave 6 to 12 inches above the tree for the topper. The height on every product page includes the stand.

Width
Check the floor space too. Full trees are about two thirds as wide as they are tall, slim trees about half and pencil trees about a third. Leave a little room between the lowest branches and walls or furniture so the tips can spread.
